Asst. Prof. Dr. Rashidah Funke Olanrewaju, a Nigerian citizen was born in 1973 in Kaduna, Kaduna State Nigeria. I earned BSc. Hons. Computer Science at University Putra Malaysia, with Second Class Upper (CGPA 3.41 of 4.00) with major in Software Engineering in 2002, M.Sc. in Computer and Information Engineering with CGPA of 3.557 of 4.000 majoring in Information Engineering from International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) in 2006. I earned Ph.D. (Engineering) in August 2011 with specialization in Information Security in Digital Image Processing where I identified watermark embedding strength and developed an Intelligent digital watermarking system based on Safe Region of Fast Fourier Transform using the newly identified embedding strength to hide a watermark in the Safe Region of the host image. I also earned Postgraduate Diploma in Islamic Studies (DIS) from the International Islamic University Malaysia in 2001. I am a senior member of The IEEE Computer Society, Women in Engineering, member, Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK), representing my university at Malaysian Society for Cryptology Research, the Arab Research Institute of Science and Engineers (ARISE).
I am currently the Leader of Software Engineering Research Group SERG, Faculty of Engineering, IIUM. My current in hand projects revolve around: Intelligent detection systems, MapReduce Optimization Techniques, Compromising Secure Authentication and Authorization Mechanisms, Secure Routing for ad-hoc networks, Formulating Bio-Inspired Optimization Techniques, Information security in IoT environment, image processing, and watermarking systems.
